Luck Chevrolet in ASHLAND, VA - OUR HISTORY
HISTORY OF Luck Chevrolet
Luck Chevrolet was founded by James N. Luck in 1916 as "The J.N. Luck Motor Company." Before he bought the Chevy franchise for the ASHLAND area, he and his brother, S.A. Luck, ran a livery and boarding stable for horses in town. After he passed away, his son, J. Ferrell Luck, ran the business. in 1938, Ferrell moved the business from the center of town (across from the ASHLAND Theater) to the corner of College Avenue and US Route 1.
During WWII, vehicle sales came to a halt. To make a living, Luck Motor Company's employees sold refrigerators. We also were an Esso (Exxon) dealer until the 1960's. Ferrell Luck sold the dealership to his brother-in-law, Joe Stiles around 1967. In 1968, Ferrell's son, Jack Luck, came to work at the dealership. In 1972, Joe moved the dealership south on Route 1 to the corner of Ashcake Road.
Shortly after the move, Joe's son, Eddie Stiles, was employed at Luck Chevrolet. In 1990, Jack Luck's son (and Joe Stiles' great nephew) Ross Luck, joined the ranks. In 2014, Eddie's daughter, Annie Stiles joined the Luck Chevrolet Team as well. Eddie, Jack, Ross and Annie are working together as the management team at Luck Chevrolet.
